I started practicing Taekwondo here at Inyodo aprox. 12 years ago.  My vision is not very good, and the sparring became difficult for me to see.  What I did see was the jiu-jitsu classes.  Of course the contact, grabs and overall feel of jiu-jitsu is completely without need of any vision really.  So,  I started to train ground fighting instead of standup.

I am a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Carlos Carvalho (Carlson Gracie).  I enjoy, no gi as much as gi.  I teach a traditional foundation to beginners, but I like to roll with an offensive half guard and rubber guard defense.  Darse chokes are a favorite submission of mine.  The guys here call me the encyclopedia of jiu-jitsu because I do know most of the quirky names for many of the modern day (youtube) moves.

I have lived in Vail for over 15 years now, and have two girls with my wife Heather.  I have long been an avid skateboarder and snowboarder however more and more they intertefere with my training!
